Next Generation Ambassadors – Apply between May 1-June 30
Next Generation Ambassadors are volunteer representatives of Diakonos International, with a chance to get hands on and travel while spreading awareness about vulnerable children in Haiti. Diakonos International, Inc. is seeking driven students and young adults to be actively involved for one (1) year as a Next Generation Ambassador.
Program Overview:
The Next Generation Ambassador Program has a special agenda set in place – specifically to equip college students and young adults the opportunity to channel their energy, their gifts and talents to positively impact and transform the lives of vulnerable and destitute children in Haiti.
Next Generation Ambassadors will play an important role and have special opportunities whereby to make a difference in vulnerable children’s lives. This includes, but is not limited to:
- finding ways to enhance a child’s education and leadership abilities through various workshops and programs
- supporting art education in rural communities, allowing the children to express themselves and bring healing and hope through art projects
- becoming involved in various ways to keep vulnerable children off the streets and away from becoming a restavek (child slave)
Diakonos International, Inc. runs a children’s home in Carrefour, Haiti called Kominote Ti Fanmi Nou, which is the heart of the organization. Diakonos also partners with local orphanages in Haiti on various levels, in part by feeding local children before they go to school, working with art to give children hope and help by keeping the children off the streets.
Our main objective is to help raise Haitian children to become the leaders of tomorrow. These Haitian children have unfound strengths and passions but need avenues to explore and opportunities to grow their dreams. They especially need mentoring from students and young adults who can use their gifts and talents and channel their energy to positively impact and help Diakonos transform the lives of these vulnerable and destitute children in Haiti.
A Next Generation Ambassador should be a college student or young adult with the desire and initiative to work with destitute children. A background in leadership is recommended although not necessary, as is volunteer service in the community or with a non-profit service provider, and a passion to “give back” by helping impoverished and vulnerable children in Haiti become the leaders of tomorrow.
Do you have what it takes to make a difference in a child’s life? We think so! It’s going to be an exciting year at Diakonos and we hope you’ll join the team.
Expect Travel, Teamwork and Fun– and a life-changing experience as a Next Generation Ambassador!
