Latest News From Our Small Community of Family in Haiti

Oh no! No Outchy!

Among clean water and sanitation, immunization is one of the most cost-effective public health investments. And thanks to ASAD Haiti, all our children are up to date with their vaccinations. We thank God for Marie-Carmelle Pierre, Dr. Nelson, Jean-Louis and  the nurses of ASAD for making sure that our children stay healthy.

April's Birthdays

Every month (at Diakonos’ Small Community of Family) we celebrate kids birthdays. This month it was Exa and Holken’s birthdays, and boy, did we have fun with cake and Haitian kola and gourmet cooking!

Exa is a very smart boy and his Godfather, Steven, can be very proud of him. Holken has also come a long way since he has been at Our Small Community of Family.

Please know that when you sponsor a child your contributions go towards paying for very real tangible things like vaccines. You’re not just contributing to a cause. You are very likely buying the very pneumococcal vaccine or the measles vaccine that will keep one of these children out of the hospital or possibly even keep them from an early, preventable death.

Both boys enjoyed their birthdays as we celebrated with music and special lollipops from Chiwuawa, Mexico — courtesy of Envoy Flight Attendant, Jose Redondo.

Thank you Jose and Godfather Steven for making this a great birthday for both boys!

Consider sponsoring a child and help make their birthday a special celebration.

Art Day Celebration And Its Humblest Beginnings

When Monica Watkins came to our Small Community of Family in Haiti neither she nor we could not have imagined what took place during what was to be a fun and simple little art workshop to hep the kids of our special orphanage find some distraction.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2016

2016 is here! and we would like to especially thank our church family, Valley Family Church, and our partners – Airline Ambassadors International and Mission Love Seeds  – as well as everyone of our supporters and contributors who supported our work last year. So much was accomplished in 2015! Would you like to find out what exactly? Read on…

A Christmas Story

We’d like to introduce Chestaline (on the left). Chestaline was one of our newcomers last year at Kominote ti Fanmi Nou. She came from the outskirts of Haiti and this Christmas experience was the first real Christmas she has ever experienced.

She was so in awe at the gifts that were given to her that she didn’t know how to act – all she could do was smile and laugh! In her own words, “I am so happy I found a real family where I feel loved”.

Our 2016 Resolutions

We have big plans at Diakonos in 2016, and we’d love to let you in on what our top 3 New Year’s resolutions are …

*Buy a school bus or a passenger van to help transport our children to and from school and their doctors appointments.
*Build the new home where the children of Kominote Ti Fanmi Nou de Diakonos can live comfortably and safely.
*Build a chicken coop to help the children  increase their protein intake.

Valley Family Church

We want to give God praise and thanks for Pastor Jeff and Pastor Beth and our extended family at Valley Family Church for sponsoring our 2015 Christmas party. The kids ate, drank, danced to the DJ’s beats and played games – and let’s not forget the delicious cake. All of them had such an amazing Christmas experience! Thank you!

Mission Love Seeds

What a beautiful thoughtful Christmas blessing from Mission Love Seeds who made it their goal to provide a Christmas gift to the children of Our Small Community of Family in Carrefour, Haiti. Thank you for the beautiful table cloths, matching paper goods and cutlery for our Christmas party. And thank you SO much for facilitating the gift drive for the children!

THANKS (Ten Hugs And Nine Kisses)

We are SO grateful to our amazing team of volunteers and the incredible work they have done to help us accomplish so many things in 2015. Many thanks to our volunteers who put “boots on the ground” to help with all the mission trips — Art Day Celebration and Back to School! We couldn’t have done it without you!

With all of the fundraising efforts, we distributed notebooks and other school supplies to Sapotille School and Kominote Ti Fanmi Nou de Diakonos. We were able to fix our water tank, buy a stove and freezer, and the generator is also now fixed so the children can do their homework at night!
